Singham-Music Review

Its been long time since I was planning to write a music review.
So here it goes... "Sigham" music by Ajay-Atul. For those of you from Maharashtra or a fan of Marathi music, this name should not be new.

The first track is the "title" track "Singham". Sung by the Sukhwinder Singh in the same style as he sung for Omkara and then Dabang. The song starts in typical Ajay-Atul style and gives a typical feel of a king. The typical orchestra used in this song is something the duo has used before too. Sukhi sings the mukhda in very much "Omkara" style. Especially ending part of the song is mind blowing. I feel that Sukhiji's voice has been given some effect, though I would have loved to listen to the RAW Sukhiji. Great start by the duo never the less.
The next track "Saathiya" has an addictive feel, Swanand Kirkire's lyrics did hit my heart. First 30 seconds are pure pure bliss. From there it is taken very well by such a sweet and melodious voice of, the melody queen "Shreya Ghosal". Rendition of word "Saathiya" is done with so much of perfection. Then she is joined by Ajay Gogavale(from the duo Ajay-Atul). The song has a feel of such a cool breeze and I am listening to it in a repeat mode. :)
The third and last, sadly the last original soundtrack of album "Maula" has relatively strange and unthinkable combination of Richa Sharma and Kunal Ganjawala. The song has a bit of feel of Qawwali or something like sufiism? This track is like awesome too, but will take time to grow on you. To me, this track sounds like Arziyaan (from Delhi 6). Both songs has a feel of sufiism though neither of them are really sufi songs.
Rest 3 songs are remixes and not worth writing a review. But these remixes sound better than remixes from other composers.
Awesome work by the lyricist Swanand Kirkire, giving lyrics to 3 songs which are so different from each other.
All the songs are awesome, I wish to listen more from Ajay-Atul in future. But still, I feel national award winning duo is capable of even better work, this one is certainly the best in market these days.

Third World Countries?

A memorable trip to Amsterdam for attending "Soft Matter Days".. Met Wim Van Sarloos and discussed my problem with him and also some more PhD students and Postdocs...
But the best part of the trip was journey to Amsterdam Zuid and that too perticularly from Amersfoort to Amsterdam Zuid. Changed a train at Amersfoort and as usual did not think before getting into the train and then got scared after that. Saw a man sitting, went to him and asked. For my surprise I was in the right train.
He asked me "Are you from India?"... And he was very happy to see that I am from India.
And I still remember the words as if he is still sitting with me saying "Yess man! Future is ours".. And I was like... what? Sorry ... I did not get you. Can you please say it again....
He said "the future belongs to third world countries man.... I am from Turkey...My goverment even does not have money to help people who lost everything in flood. World has ruined us.. They took everything from us... And now they call us third world countries.. Now they want to help us.. But you know what they do not have HEART.... We, the people from thirld world countries have a heart for each other.. I know we are lagging far behind US or UK or maybe Europe... But man people here do not have time for each other...( I apologize to all reading it, but was really touched by this man.. So writing his words)..... Seeing you makes me so happy and now I am thankful to god that I did something good in the morning. But man you know what... We keep fighting over religion and do not understand that indeed we are helping US to check our progress.. You know one day god will teach us some lesson and I do not want it should be too late.. In US all the software work is being done by Indians and Chinese.. Their security system is being run by Israelies... So I hope there should be one day when US should pray to we Asians.. They should not disregard us being Third World Countries.. Should not feel pity on us.. But we always try to run to US or UK or Europe... Now I regret that.. I cannot serve my country... The hi fi technology these people are developing, is it going to help the world? Poor would be poor.. Still for him bread is more important than technology!"
It was all around 20 minutes and then he got down at his stop but his words are still fresh in my heart....

Tears and Life

My tears
Dry away when they fall
On the desert of my life
The barren land of my heart

The tears smile
coming out of my eye
As even they
donn wanna live with me
and go away smiling
As you went
Away from my life smiling

Memories screaming again
Holding your picture
in their hands
Eternity has stood still
The world is in silence
As you left me in the pain

Will you come?
Come to hold me?
Hold my hand
to give me support
When I fall
from the cliff of sorrow

One needs love to live life
But I am
Looking to borrow
my life from you!

I still look for you
Leave my doors open
As they wait for you
They have got rusted as I am
Waiting for you

Need your love to live life
Without you the time is borrrowed!

Your Memories

Your memories still haunt me
Because the past still taunt me
For i'm still not over it
It's no easy to forget
For it used to be so true

These memories are my hope now
hope to die
Hope for the darkness
Which used to be light
Why did you change?
Yes they are my reason
To feel so lonely
to hate me
to hate myself
to hate my heart
which still beats

They push me back in my life
In every kind of season

And when i feel all betrayed
I go back to the times
When everything was so well
As the early sunrise
And now all is dark
As its a sunset
the sun of my life
will never rise
Never ever again
I know I won't ever
be happy

When pain moved to my heart
Like willing to stay
And joy came out of my life
Like willing to runaway
But before i realized
You were walking away

Your memories still haunt me
For i cant get over you
And i want no one else
It'll never get that true .

Now you find your life
How cheap you are
how mean you are

I hate those days
When you said I'm your life
Those words still haunt me
Taunt me
As I trust you
Taunt me for now I feel cheated
Taunt me for you are the winner
And I am the looser
the BLOODY looser!

Now I ask the question
I have seen
the life again
the sun is shining again
The colors of life are back
Her smile
makes my day
keep me awake
for the nights

But now I'm afraid
As your memories still haunt me
They still taunt me
For she will also be you
What will I do?
I think
this is the reincarnation of you
And she smiles like you

Your memories are back
And they still haunt me
Taunt me for the faith
I had in you

I don't want to look her
any more
I don't want to love her anymore

Love for me is PURE
And the world around is
so IMPURE...
I don't want
LOVE anymore
because your memories
still HAUNT me!

HATE

I hate myself..
my heart
for the reason
it loved you!...
And it still wants you!
I hate it
for the reason
Its not mine anymore...
For the reason
It was so easily touched

You took it away
and I donn want it anymore

I hate life
for the reason
that it reminds me of you!
I love death
For it is dark..
I donn like colors
For the reason it reminds me of you!
I love dark
In dark I cannot see you!

I hate my eyes
For the reason
That you are my vision

I hate the world
Because I see you only
all around...

I want to go
somewhere away
Away from this world...
Away from you
from your memories
Away from my self
Away from my heart

Away.....
Away in the dark
Where there is no happiness
no joy
no life
no colours

I love the black...
I love the blank
I want to go to Dark....
Away from myself..
I want to see darkness ahead
And loneliness lying under the shed
Only to witness another shearing blow
Another teary night
Another fearing sight!
Another fightening sight

Just to see a crashed HEART
I hate myself!

ONCE UPON A TUNE

With just a few days left flying to Netherlands to start a new phase of life, graduate student (:P).. I am just trying to figure out, which way did KGP change me? Yeah I got some clothing sense, no MUSTACHES, long hairs :P... what else? Yeah now I recall, KGP gave me a taste for music, in which I was really very very poor when I entered kgp. Thanks god, I learnt something :p... So why not write something on SONGS, MUSIC & LYRICS: (some of my favorites)
Rasik Balma: (Film - CHori Chori)
This is a beautiful composition enhanced by Lataji's mesmerising voice. The various aspects of the song have been wpven into beautiful notes so many times that the song captures every bit of your imagination.
Kuch toh log kahenge: (Film - Amar Prem)
Its lyrics touched the hearts of common people like me. Through its lyrics, poet Anand Bakshi sent out a message to all. A man consoles a prostitute singing, Kuch reet jagat ki aisi hai.. Sita bhi yahan badnam hui.. Simple and meaningful.
Bheeni Bheeni: (Film- 1947 Earth)
Rahman's composition is absolutely superb. Equally wonderful are the words by Javed Akhtar. In the cacophony of the world, this soft is as soft as a velvet.
Tadap Tadap ke: (Film- Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam)
This list could not have been complete without this song. Very beautifully sung by KK on a classic tune by Ismail Darbar. This song has so much of sole.. Aisa kya gunah kiya jo lut gaye.....
I literally started crying when I listened to it LIVE
Pehla Nasha: (Film- Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar)
Jatin-Lalit's pure natural tune, Udit Narayan's melodious voice, Aamir Khan's innocence and the intoxication of slow motion in which the song is hot is a wonderful blend. One of my all time favourites.
Yeh mera deewanapan hai: (Film - yahudi)
Mukeshji sang this simple melodic tune with so much innocence and simplicity. His voice had a certain spotlessness.
Jab dil hi toot gaya: (Film - Shahjahan)
A sad song but a classic. Even after 50-odd years, this song exemplifies the cry of broken heart.
Piya tose naina lage re: (Film - Guide)
My favourite movie! Again a classic. Its simple words are set to such a sweet tune that it stays in your mind or better heart. Lyricist Shailendra depicted the commitment and surrender of a lover beautifully.
Mera pehla pehla Pyaar: (Film - MP3)
Some of you might think I am being partial to KK. But I really loved this song and when I heard this song, this became one of the few songs which I listen in repeat mode. It creates an aura around you and makes you dreams about your first crush or LOVE rather. :)
Jo tum todo piya: (Film - Silsila)
Meerabai's bhajan doused with Bhaktiras. Tori preet Krishna kaun sang jodu? These pious feelings were set with such affection to music by Vasan Desai and sung very beautifully by Lataji.
Koi gata main so jata: (Film - Aalap)
Even today my eyes well up( and it happened when I heard this song for the first time :P) when I listen to this song. What a beautiful composition and so beautifully sung. The notes touch the chords of your being.
Ek ladki ko dekh to: (Film - 1942: A love story)
I used to hate Kumar Sanu till I did not know that he sung this song. Very beautiful lyrics by Javed Akhatr Sahab. It makes me feel like love is in the air. Jaise Khila gulab.. jaise shayar ka khwaab....
Emosanal Atyachaar: (Film - Dev D)
Many of you would argue about this song being placed among so very high rated song. But Amit Trivedi does an experiment with the music and it worked, he gave an all together new tatste to Indian Cinema Music. Never before someone even dared to use Bands in marriage scenes. Hats off to Anuraag Kashyap, this guy has a vision. The music he asked Vishal Bhardwaj to create for Paanch would have been a hit today when rock genere fially finding acceptance.
Vande Mataram: (Film - Anand Math)
First I listened to version by Rahman and I became a fan of the song, while downloading from DC++, I happened to listen to this song.
Hemant Kumar's composition is as difficult as it is unique. The best of singers pale at thought of rendering it. But Lataji sung it so well.
Maa: (Film - Taare Jameen Par)
I consider myself as an emotionless creature. Having heard that most of cried while watching this song, I thought give it a try, but I failed. So very good awesome lyrics by Prasson Joshi and sung so very well by Shankar Mahadevan it reminded me of my mother that I called her & cried. Tujhe sab hain pata, hain na Maa...
Sur na saje kya gayoo main: (Film - Basant Bahar)
Composed by Shankar-jaikishen, Manna Dey sang this very difficult melody with such ease and naturalness that it's become immortal.
Arambh hai prachand: (Film - Gulaal)
Yet another song by revolutionary Anurag Kashyap, Piyush Mishra has given a great touch both with his voice and music and made this song revolutionary in nature. It is fast paced and is bound to get the adrenalin pumping once it is heard and seen on a big screen.
Yeh maholo yeh takhto yeh tajo ki: ( Film - Pyasaa)
The voice of a thirsting heart was potrayed by poet Sahir Ludhianvi fittingly. The song reflects the feeling of a true poet so weeel... yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaye to kya hai? Its used again in Gulaal, which reflets that the song is immortal and will be.
Rubaroo: ( Film - Rang De Basanti)
One of the best of Rahman. High guitar chords and sounding lyrics by Prasoon Joshi steals the show. Its still a number worth using when going on a drive with friends.
Khwaja mere khwaja: (Film - Jodha Akbar)
Its said that Rahman sings the best number from the movie. Beautiful lyrics by Kashif and very very well sung by Rahman, everytime I listen to this song makes me feel like I am sitting in a temple. It gives me such a peace of mind.
Shokiyon mein ghola jaye: (Film - Prem Pujari)
Kavi Neeraj brought in a new style of poetry. He used fresh new words and mixed Hindi and Urdu with fresh thought.
Yaaron Dosti Badi hi Haseen Hai: ( Film - Rockford)
I could not have left this song. The perfect song to describe friendship. The lyrics are too good and very well sung by KK. I feel it so fresh everytome I listen to it. A perfect friendship day song. :)

Pepsi - NIMBooZ

Well to start with, it all started during a lazy saturday while drinking nimbooz I just thought of that the biggest competitor of a soft drink in sub -urban and rural india is the nimboo pani and in one of the interviews of pepsi ceo he very well said water is his biggest competitor and not coke
Anyway the problem Pepsi people don’t see or don’t wanna see is the fact that the nimboo pani sells because it serves the basic purpose and its CHEAP , Indian market is actually very price sensitive , yes the only way Pepsi can sell its nimbooz at slightly higher price is the fact they can show the water which is being used by local nimbo pani wala may not be hygeinic and may be even go for co branding and say the nimboo pani contains mineral water and hence justify the higher price but still the problem remains because still a large segment of the market is extremely price sensitive and probably wouldn’t like to pay a premium just for the hygienic water
The nimbooz have been priced @ 10 rupees for the 200 ml pet bottle , if you guyz remember the coke campaign of pricing 200 ml coke @ 5 bucks was an instant hit in rural india , the real problem is not just a nimboo pani but the problem is the price

surely water is available in most cities for free and surely Pepsi has to fight with water when it comes at quenching thirst but surely consumers are ready to pay a premium only when u add things such as sugar and other additives but then how much todays if they feel the threat is nimboo pani tomorrow it mite just come out that jaljeera is the other competitor

would surely like to hear out the views of other learned people
