Rasik Balma: (Film - CHori Chori)
This is a beautiful composition enhanced by Lataji's mesmerising voice. The various aspects of the song have been wpven into beautiful notes so many times that the song captures every bit of your imagination.
Kuch toh log kahenge: (Film - Amar Prem)
Its lyrics touched the hearts of common people like me. Through its lyrics, poet Anand Bakshi sent out a message to all. A man consoles a prostitute singing, Kuch reet jagat ki aisi hai.. Sita bhi yahan badnam hui.. Simple and meaningful.
Bheeni Bheeni: (Film- 1947 Earth)
Rahman's composition is absolutely superb. Equally wonderful are the words by Javed Akhtar. In the cacophony of the world, this soft is as soft as a velvet.
Tadap Tadap ke: (Film- Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam)
This list could not have been complete without this song. Very beautifully sung by KK on a classic tune by Ismail Darbar. This song has so much of sole.. Aisa kya gunah kiya jo lut gaye.....
I literally started crying when I listened to it LIVE
Pehla Nasha: (Film- Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar)
Jatin-Lalit's pure natural tune, Udit Narayan's melodious voice, Aamir Khan's innocence and the intoxication of slow motion in which the song is hot is a wonderful blend. One of my all time favourites.
Yeh mera deewanapan hai: (Film - yahudi)
Mukeshji sang this simple melodic tune with so much innocence and simplicity. His voice had a certain spotlessness.
Jab dil hi toot gaya: (Film - Shahjahan)
A sad song but a classic. Even after 50-odd years, this song exemplifies the cry of broken heart.
Piya tose naina lage re: (Film - Guide)
My favourite movie! Again a classic. Its simple words are set to such a sweet tune that it stays in your mind or better heart. Lyricist Shailendra depicted the commitment and surrender of a lover beautifully.
Mera pehla pehla Pyaar: (Film - MP3)
Some of you might think I am being partial to KK. But I really loved this song and when I heard this song, this became one of the few songs which I listen in repeat mode. It creates an aura around you and makes you dreams about your first crush or LOVE rather. :)
Jo tum todo piya: (Film - Silsila)
Meerabai's bhajan doused with Bhaktiras. Tori preet Krishna kaun sang jodu? These pious feelings were set with such affection to music by Vasan Desai and sung very beautifully by Lataji.
Koi gata main so jata: (Film - Aalap)
Even today my eyes well up( and it happened when I heard this song for the first time :P) when I listen to this song. What a beautiful composition and so beautifully sung. The notes touch the chords of your being.
Ek ladki ko dekh to: (Film - 1942: A love story)
I used to hate Kumar Sanu till I did not know that he sung this song. Very beautiful lyrics by Javed Akhatr Sahab. It makes me feel like love is in the air. Jaise Khila gulab.. jaise shayar ka khwaab....
Emosanal Atyachaar: (Film - Dev D)
Many of you would argue about this song being placed among so very high rated song. But Amit Trivedi does an experiment with the music and it worked, he gave an all together new tatste to Indian Cinema Music. Never before someone even dared to use Bands in marriage scenes. Hats off to Anuraag Kashyap, this guy has a vision. The music he asked Vishal Bhardwaj to create for Paanch would have been a hit today when rock genere fially finding acceptance.
Vande Mataram: (Film - Anand Math)
First I listened to version by Rahman and I became a fan of the song, while downloading from DC++, I happened to listen to this song.
Hemant Kumar's composition is as difficult as it is unique. The best of singers pale at thought of rendering it. But Lataji sung it so well.
Maa: (Film - Taare Jameen Par)
I consider myself as an emotionless creature. Having heard that most of cried while watching this song, I thought give it a try, but I failed. So very good awesome lyrics by Prasson Joshi and sung so very well by Shankar Mahadevan it reminded me of my mother that I called her & cried. Tujhe sab hain pata, hain na Maa...
Sur na saje kya gayoo main: (Film - Basant Bahar)
Composed by Shankar-jaikishen, Manna Dey sang this very difficult melody with such ease and naturalness that it's become immortal.
Arambh hai prachand: (Film - Gulaal)
Yet another song by revolutionary Anurag Kashyap, Piyush Mishra has given a great touch both with his voice and music and made this song revolutionary in nature. It is fast paced and is bound to get the adrenalin pumping once it is heard and seen on a big screen.
Yeh maholo yeh takhto yeh tajo ki: ( Film - Pyasaa)
The voice of a thirsting heart was potrayed by poet Sahir Ludhianvi fittingly. The song reflects the feeling of a true poet so weeel... yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaye to kya hai? Its used again in Gulaal, which reflets that the song is immortal and will be.
Rubaroo: ( Film - Rang De Basanti)
One of the best of Rahman. High guitar chords and sounding lyrics by Prasoon Joshi steals the show. Its still a number worth using when going on a drive with friends.
Khwaja mere khwaja: (Film - Jodha Akbar)
Its said that Rahman sings the best number from the movie. Beautiful lyrics by Kashif and very very well sung by Rahman, everytime I listen to this song makes me feel like I am sitting in a temple. It gives me such a peace of mind.
Shokiyon mein ghola jaye: (Film - Prem Pujari)
Kavi Neeraj brought in a new style of poetry. He used fresh new words and mixed Hindi and Urdu with fresh thought.
Yaaron Dosti Badi hi Haseen Hai: ( Film - Rockford)
I could not have left this song. The perfect song to describe friendship. The lyrics are too good and very well sung by KK. I feel it so fresh everytome I listen to it. A perfect friendship day song. :)
